Galatians 6:7 7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.

When we sow our motivation matters

  • Think big: sowing does not mean only to give money to the church
  • It is about everything you do: how you spend your time, your decisions,
  • Ask yourself: What is the reason why am I doing it?
  • The Love of God should be the ultimate and only motivation

Out of your motivation, there are 4 aspects to look at when you sow:

  • Attitude
    • Do NOT complain when you sow
    • Do NOT wonder what happens to the seed
    • Do NOT be careless
    • Do NOT only sow things you do not need anymore (it is then not a sacrifice)
    • BUT: Be a cheerful giver
  • Measure
    • Look at Luke 6:38, Mark 12:41-44,
    • Not the absolute amount matters but the relative amount you give
  • The way to sow
    • Be discrete
    • Do not do it for a show
  • Where you give
    • Look at Matthew 10:41
    • Sow on a fertile ground (e.g. help somebody who is ready for help)
    • Sow in the local assembly
