Sermon: Deacon Ted

Hebrews 12:2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

What is Shame?

  • Be ashamed means to be anxious by consciousness of owns shortcomings
  • Shame comes from our mind
  • It means as well “to be put”, to be stuck in a place not being able to move
  • Shame is on the other side of Pride

Why does Christ despise Shame?

  • because Shame is bondage
    • People are ashamed of their body and therefore do not like to go to the doctor
    • People are ashamed of their house, and do not invite others therefore
  • Some Christians are ashamed to preach the gospel to others or to admit that they are Christians
  • To be ashamed is stressful and tiring

Why do we not need to be ashamed?

  • Do not live your life and be constantly aware what others think about you (do not think you are so important, that others are think constantly about you)
  • Do not have low self-esteem – Esteem what God has given to you !
  • Christ will give you liberty !
  • God loves you the way you are !
